Brandon Bailey, also known as Slim or B, is a self-taught abstract artist whose work is deeply rooted in Southern culture, radical thought, and Black identity. Born in San Bernardino, California and raised in Forest City, North Carolina, Bailey now resides in Magnolia, Delaware. His journey into art began five years ago, though his creative instincts trace back to early school years—before sports took center stage. Athletics taught him discipline, leadership, and resilience, traits that now echo through his art practice.
Since relocating to Delaware, Bailey has worked with creative communities such as Almost Phamous and Philly Create, connecting with dynamic artists from both Philadelphia and Delaware. Though largely self-taught, his work reflects a rigorous personal philosophy shaped by family values, lived experience, and a rich blend of urban and rural Black life. Influenced by his upbringing between Southern California and the Deep South, his practice channels the aesthetics of graffiti, the emotional tone of the blues, and the storytelling traditions of his elders.
Bailey’s pieces embody what he describes as “Black abstraction in its purest form”—a personal, political, and cultural archive that refuses simplification or sanitization. His art exists at the intersection of freedom, memory, and self-determination.
